IEEE Project

Typically our IEEE group will work on a project each year. Unfortunately, this year we did not have a project. Hopefully next year we will be able to start one up again. The project listed below is what was worked on last year. It involved building your own alarm clock.

Designer notes for the IEEE clock

1) The device in the upper left - above the pic - is suppose to be a timer chip, but is just there to show what it will look like schematically. When I get the actual device, I will add it.

2) The buttons are attached to 5V when pressed, and then the resistors pull down the signal to zero when the button is not pressed to make sure the pic has either 0 or 5V.

3) The LED's are not current limited and are driven by the pic as shown in the schematic. this is a fundamental design flaw, so resistors of 100-200 ohms should be added in series.

4) The LCD connector [the 10 pin connector on the right side above the LED's] is not correct. The number of pins used and the connections are totally wrong, but are connected to show that port B of the pic is reserved for the LCD.
